Hello. Wanted to know is there a name for this pope statue. I cannot find this image anywhere else with a name. So far you are the only person aside from myself that has this image. Although you got a better pic. I'm trying to label my pics as I just came back from Rome last month. If you know can you pass it along? Thanks.
I'm so sorry, but I don't remember. I used to have a friend who was an acolyte at St. Peter's, and he could've looked it up or walked over and checked, but he's back in the US and doesn't remember either :(
Thanks Jeff, for your reply. That's too bad. I can not believe that this image doesn't exist anywhere .I don't even know how to contact the basilica just to ask someone. But again thank you for getting back to me. Hopefully I'll find it at some point.
I had the same dilemma. I finally looked at the statue and decided that it looked like a 20th century pope. Then I looked at photos of the popes from the 20th century and it looked a lot like one of the Pope Pius' photos, but I couldn't tell which one. So I typed in Google Pope Pius basilica bronze statue and found it. It is a Monument to Pope Pius XI. To verify, I typed in that phrase and found several more images of it. (I wrote this same comment to the person who asked you, but I thought you might like to know, as well.)

This is Pope John Paul II
No, this statue was in St. Peter's when JPII was still pope, so I doubt it's him :)
This statue is of pope Pius XI.
