Your pictures are stunning. You are very talented. I am taking my family to Rome and I am not sure what lens I should get. Did you use a wide angle for your shots? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I brought my Canon G11 camera, which had a pretty good midrange zoom lens. There were a lot of times that I would've wanted to go wider though, but it was better for me since I was more focused on enjoying the time with my wife than with taking photos.
I would recommend something like a 18-85ish mm zoom lens if you can get one, if you're only going to have one lens on an APS-C/DX camera (24-70ish for an FX or 35mm size body). If you'll bring two lenses, bring a short zoom, nothing more than 200mm in the telephoto end. (Juggling two lenses is pretty tough when traveling for me, so I just stick to one lens or a mirrorless body).
